This and that…random thoughts from my week

So this week, I am not writing on any specific topic but just a random round up of a few ‘this and that’ moments from my week.

1. Sometimes, the clock has other plans
Ever notice how your productivity surges right at the moment you have to leave for an important meeting? This week, every time I got into my “zone,” my calendar nudged me out of it. There’s got to be a way to have two of me just for peak multitasking…

2. Home is definitely always a good idea. Something about going to the place of your childhood memories is healing. Walking through the streets I played in  as a child and eating everything that I hated growing up, but somehow I now miss is very comforting. The year has been extremely busy in every way. I felt like I was crawling to the finish line. Yesterday, i took a trip home, and this was the boost I know I needed to finish the year strong. So greetings from home!

3. Some endings are necessary. They might not be comfortable, they might not be easy and might require the last ounce of our resolve, but without them, we wouldn’t be able to grow and realize our full potential. I highly recommend the book by Dr Henry Cloud called Necessary Endings: The Employees, Businesses, and Relationships That All of Us Have to Give Up in Order to Move Forward.

4. Courage Looks Different Every Day
Courage in our lives doesn’t always show up with big declarations. Sometimes, it’s the tiny, everyday choices like sharing your views in a meeting even when they are different from what everyone else is saying.  Other times, it’s about setting boundaries or just choosing to keep going even on tough days. This week, I was presented with situations that required me to show up, not looking like what i  was going through, channeling that  courage even in small ways.

5. Upgraded. Yesterday, I flew home from Johannesburg on the first flight out. As I got to the boarding gate, I noticed there wasn’t the usual queue typical of flights to Harare. In my mind, I concluded that the flight was probably not full. The lady on the counter checked my boarding  pass and said “Mam you have been upgraded to Business Class”  It took a while for this to register 😀 and I muttered “thank you very much” as I walked towards the plane. I got in and realized the flight was actually full, and I had been upgraded to the last seat in Business Class 💃💃💃💃💃

It’s the 1st of November, and this simple gesture from Airlink has me super excited for what the rest of the month has in store. I am now believing God for upgrades in other areas of my life for the rest of the year, and I am praying the same for you.

/Upgrade/
“raise (something) to a higher standard

6. Not so tiny victories
If we look closely, every week has several “not so tiny victories” worth celebrating. Mine was making major headway on a project i have been working on. It’s easy to overlook these moments, but this week, I’m giving myself a pat on the back for each step towards my goals.

So here’s to a November full of upgrades, of not so little victories, some  “character-building moments,” and enough courage to keep  going.

Gratitude: This week, I am grateful for all the ‘tiny’ victories I experienced. They might seem tiny, but even for these, I am grateful 🙏

Gratefully
