2024 has been a transformative year marked by significant milestones personally and professionally. In addition to the word of the year from church, this year i had my personal word to anchor me. My personal word for the year was CONSISTENCY, and the theme from church was & MORE. I am totally grateful for everything that 2024 brought. Through consistency and discipline in doing the work, I experienced God’s & MORE. Today’s article is a testimony of my gratitude to God for the year 2024.
A bold career transition: After five years with the same employer, I made a pivotal decision to change jobs. The move was about aligning my career to my evolving goals and aspirations as much as it was about seeking new opportunities. Daunting as such career moves might be, they are necessary for growth and fulfillment, personally and professionally.

A moment of recognition. Being awarded one of the Top 100 Career Women In Africa by 9to5Chick was a big highlight of my year. Sometimes, we think the work we do makes no difference, but such recognition is a reminder to keep striving despite the challenges.

Exploring new horizons: This year, i added two countries that i had never been to before, Spain and Algeria. I love travel because it broadens my perspectives and enriches my understanding of the world.

Achieving goals through action plans. In 2024, I was very intentional about my goals. I broke down my goals into actionable and manageable steps. This helped me maintain focus and track my progress effectively. Interestingly, i have always done this for my work KPIs and applying the same to my personal goals instilled discipline. I should have started this sooner!
Embracing Challenges: 2024 wasn’t smooth sailing. Each goal had its own birthing pains 😢. I could have written about just the mountain top moments only, but that would be a misrepresentation of the year. Before I landed the new role I got, I had other interviews where I wasn’t successful. Was that easy? Of course not. Was I disappointed when I received the rejection feedback? Very much so. Did I want to give up? Many times. Thankfully, I did not. And I encourage you not to give up. In the fullness of time, you shall reap if you faint not. (Galatians 6 vs 9)
As much as I enjoy traveling to new places, that also comes with its own set of discomfort. Even following through with my goals was a battle against procrastination and self-doubt. Thank God that the year has twelve months, and my desire for better was greater than the comfort of my status quo. So I kept pushing. I also had accountability partners who kept me honest.
I haven’t ticked off everything that was on my goals for the year. Still, I am grateful for those goals that came to pass.

Looking ahead: I am looking forward to 2025 with excitement and hope. I am carrying over some goals into the new year, adjusting some and completely removing some. My biggest takeout from 2024 is that I can do hard things. Things that take me out of my comfort zone and require discipline and consistency. Yes, i can do those things!

Gratitude: This week, I am grateful for the gift of rest. I love the days between Christmas Day and the New Year. I am doing my best to have all the 7 types of rest according to Dr Sandra Dalton Smith. These are physical, sensory, emotional, mental, social, creative, and spiritual rest. I am waking up later, taking afternoon naps, going for walks, reading, enjoying the predictable Christmas movies on Netflix, a lot of board games with my family and just being still and attentive to what God is saying about 2025. For the gift of rest, I am totally grateful 🙏.
I wish you all a victorious 2025. May your deepest desires and prayers be answered. I am talking about the dreams that you can not even share with anyone because they might seem outrageous. May God wipe your secret tears and bring in devine helpers and destiny connectors to make it all work for your good. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen
Gratefully
