Faith demands action!

This post is a few days late because i was traveling. Now that I am back, the normal posting schedule will continue. 2025 is going by very fast… at least for me, it is.  So, let’s talk about the goals that you set when you were excited about the new year in January and the progress you are making towards achieving them. I will go first. I have about ten of them across different areas of my life, like family, spiritual, career, financial, social, and physical. Under each goal, i have a detailed step-by-step of all the things I need to do to deliver that goal. In fact, i wrote about this, and you can read the full article here.

Have you met people who are ‘believing God for a promotion’ but never take any action that results in them being promoted? Or the ones who declare “this is my year of financial breakthrough” but still swipe their credit cards like there is no tomorrow?

Don’t get me wrong, I am a faith filled Bible believing, Christian. Faith is powerful, and it moves mountains, but i just think at times we get it all wrong. In James 2 vs. 26, the Bible makes it clear that “Faith without works is dead.” That means praying for a job but not updating your CV and applying for one is not faith. Or believing for good health but not eating right or exercising is also not faith.

Faith requires taking action. In 1 Samuel 18, when David was facing Goliath, he didn’t just stand there declaring his faith that the giant would fall. No. He picked up a stone, put it on the slingshot, took aim, and launched it towards the giant. Your dreams and goals are a starting point, but action is what makes things happen.

If you are believing God for a business, start doing your research, speak to those who are already in business, and start saving up. When you move and take action, you show God that you are ready for what you are asking for. If you want to harvest, you have to plant the seeds. Even miracles require our participation. The woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8 vs 43-48 pressed through the crowd and touched the hem of Jesus’s garment. The blind man Bartimaeus in Mark 10 vs 46-52 called out to Jesus. Faith is active, not passive.

As March draws to a close, don’t just talk faith. Walk it out. Yes, you have to pray. Yes, you have to believe. Most importantly, prepare, put it in the work, and keep moving forward. Like Bartimaeus, not every voice speaking to you will encourage and cheer for you, but you have to persist. You will be amazed how doors will open for you when your faith is matched with your actions.

Gratitude: This week, I am grateful for the ability to dream and plan. Something about working towards  specific goals makes me look forward to each new day, an opportunity to see the dream and plan come to life.

Gratefully
