The Holiday Shift: Rest Is Still Holy

This is the second week of my ‘holiday’ or let me call it a break from work.  I have been looking forward to the holidays. Like many working mothers, I imagined rest, slower mornings, no meetings and a chance to exhale after a long year. And in some ways, that rest is real. But inContinueContinue reading “The Holiday Shift: Rest Is Still Holy”

Brave or Crazy?

Bravery and madness often look identical at the start. What determines the label isn’t the action itself but the outcome and the perspective of those watching. The bravest thing you can do is take the step anyway, knowing that progress rarely comes from playing it safe.

Creating Margin

A packed calendar doesn’t always mean a productive life. Creating margin is the intentional practice of leaving white space in your day to rest, think, and focus on what matters most. Block time for deep work, mark important personal commitments like school runs, and protect focus hours with “do not disturb” just as you would a board meeting. Margin is not wasted time, it is what keeps you energized, creative, and able to deliver at your best.

You Are Capable Of Much More

In September last year,  after ten years, our live-in helper gave us notice that she wanted to move on. She came to  live with us when the twins were a month old, and they recently turned eleven.  Initially, I panicked. How would I even begin looking for someone, train them, and get them to theContinueContinue reading “You Are Capable Of Much More”

The Power Of A Timely Thank You.

I was scrolling on LinkedIn earlier this week when a connection of mine reacted to a post about her former colleague who had passed away. Suddenly, my timeline was flooded with tributes, testimonies, and stories about how kind this man was. Every time someone shared a post, my connection reacted, and thanks to the algorithm,ContinueContinue reading “The Power Of A Timely Thank You.”

The Slow No: When Good Ideas Stall In Corporate Corridors

I was flying back to Johannesburg from Algiers via Istanbul, Turkey, last week. My flight out of Algiers was delayed, and by the time we landed in Istanbul, I had already missed my connecting flight. Tired and frustrated, I rushed to the transfer desk, hoping they would  rebook me quickly. Without much conversation, the ladyContinueContinue reading “The Slow No: When Good Ideas Stall In Corporate Corridors”

What If Your Team Is Showing Up, But Not Showing Up To Win?

We were playing soccer recently as a family, our daughter and I versus my husband and our son. The boys scored first. One goal, then another. By the time they hit their third, I called my daughter aside. It was time to regroup and come up with a plan. But she looked up at meContinueContinue reading “What If Your Team Is Showing Up, But Not Showing Up To Win?”

The Self-Made Illusion

We often celebrate the idea of being “self-made,” but is anyone truly self-made? Even Jesus, in fulfilling His divine mission, relied on a close circle of people from disciples to friends and supporters. This post unpacks the myth of individual success and highlights the power of community, support, and God-ordained relationships in our personal and professional journeys. It’s time we traded self-sufficiency for grace-filled interdependence.

Shinning Without Overshadowing: Navigating Power Dynamics In The Workplace

I recently came across a post on LinkedIn about one of the most quoted and debated laws in Robert Greene’s The 48 Laws of Power. Law 1 says, “Never outshine the master.” The idea is simple, make your superiors feel superior. Don’t threaten their status. After decades in corporate, I understand the principle and haveContinueContinue reading “Shinning Without Overshadowing: Navigating Power Dynamics In The Workplace”

You are further than you think!

We are already in May, and it’s easy to feel like the year is running ahead of you. And if you are a goal-getter like most in this community, you might be tempted to think you haven’t done enough! But before you jump to conclusions or rewrite your entire life plan, let me remind youContinueContinue reading “You are further than you think!”

Faith demands action!

This post is a few days late because i was traveling. Now that I am back, the normal posting schedule will continue. 2025 is going by very fast… at least for me, it is.  So, let’s talk about the goals that you set when you were excited about the new year in January and theContinueContinue reading “Faith demands action!”

The Perfect Moment That Never Comes!

I was looking at my goals earlier this week, and I realized I have put off starting certain things because I keep telling myself the moment isn’t quite right. Weeks turn to months, and years go by, and still, the moment is never quite right. When was the last time everything lined up just rightContinueContinue reading “The Perfect Moment That Never Comes!”

The Women Who Shaped Me – A Tribute On International Women’s Day

They say it takes a village, not just to raise a child but to build a career and a life. Today, on International Women’s Day, I want to honor the incredible women who have shaped my journey, from my home to the workplace.

Rain, Traffic And Power Outages… Not Always A Bad Thing!

Continuous rain comes with its fair share of inconveniences. Children’s school extra mural activities were canceled all week! Kids were stuck indoors, and that’s when the screen time battles began. And please don’t get me started on traffic, because somehow, the moment it rains, as drivers we seem to collectively lose their ability to drive! And of course, with that much rain, the electricity outages follow. Always. Without fail!

But even the rain has its lessons.

Traffic Jams And Life Lessons!

A forced and unexpected change to my usual route to work reminded me that sometimes we have to try new things. That the best routes aren’t the ones we already know and when we try something new, we open ourselves to possibilities we never thought possible.

Why working women  need a tribe (and how to build one)

And just like that, January 2025 has ended! It’s as if you blink and the month is over. I am not going to ask if you are still on track with your goals 😃. January was a wild juggling act for me. For the first time in twelve years, we no longer have a live-inContinueContinue reading “Why working women  need a tribe (and how to build one)”
