The True Cost of Building

I thought I was ready to build, plans approved, bricks delivered, confidence high. Then all my materials vanished into the foundation, and I learned an important life lesson, every great thing costs more than you expect.

The stories that didn’t make the highlight reel.

When the big wins feel few and the year feels shorter than your to-do list, remember His grace didn’t take a break. It showed up in laughter, in breath, and in the strength to try again. This is a reflection on the gifts that never made the highlight reel yet made all the difference.

Creating Margin

A packed calendar doesn’t always mean a productive life. Creating margin is the intentional practice of leaving white space in your day to rest, think, and focus on what matters most. Block time for deep work, mark important personal commitments like school runs, and protect focus hours with “do not disturb” just as you would a board meeting. Margin is not wasted time, it is what keeps you energized, creative, and able to deliver at your best.

You Are Capable Of Much More

In September last year,  after ten years, our live-in helper gave us notice that she wanted to move on. She came to  live with us when the twins were a month old, and they recently turned eleven.  Initially, I panicked. How would I even begin looking for someone, train them, and get them to theContinueContinue reading “You Are Capable Of Much More”

This and that…random thoughts from my week

We are now in August. Every month, I keep asking myself, “How did we get here this fast?” Anyway, today I am doing a this and that  post where I share several themes from my week. I often do these. You can check a few from past posts. So, let’s get into it.

Surrendered Hearts And Patient Souls…The Twins Birth Story.

Next week, our twins are turning 11. Even after all  these years, I still have pinch me moments where I can not believe how everything happened. So here is the back story. This is a long post. You have been warned. When we got married almost eighteen years ago, I prayed and asked God forContinueContinue reading “Surrendered Hearts And Patient Souls…The Twins Birth Story.”

The Power Of A Timely Thank You.

I was scrolling on LinkedIn earlier this week when a connection of mine reacted to a post about her former colleague who had passed away. Suddenly, my timeline was flooded with tributes, testimonies, and stories about how kind this man was. Every time someone shared a post, my connection reacted, and thanks to the algorithm,ContinueContinue reading “The Power Of A Timely Thank You.”

The Slow No: When Good Ideas Stall In Corporate Corridors

I was flying back to Johannesburg from Algiers via Istanbul, Turkey, last week. My flight out of Algiers was delayed, and by the time we landed in Istanbul, I had already missed my connecting flight. Tired and frustrated, I rushed to the transfer desk, hoping they would  rebook me quickly. Without much conversation, the ladyContinueContinue reading “The Slow No: When Good Ideas Stall In Corporate Corridors”

Faith demands action!

This post is a few days late because i was traveling. Now that I am back, the normal posting schedule will continue. 2025 is going by very fast… at least for me, it is.  So, let’s talk about the goals that you set when you were excited about the new year in January and theContinueContinue reading “Faith demands action!”

The Perfect Moment That Never Comes!

I was looking at my goals earlier this week, and I realized I have put off starting certain things because I keep telling myself the moment isn’t quite right. Weeks turn to months, and years go by, and still, the moment is never quite right. When was the last time everything lined up just rightContinueContinue reading “The Perfect Moment That Never Comes!”
